You haven’t heard from me this week because I have a number of things going on related to work. However, chapter 10 of Jake and the Dynamo will be posting tonight as usual. There’s more action as Jake and Dana hit the streets to clean out the latest infestation of monsters, and a new rival comes on the scene.
I spent yesterday drafting chapter 17, and will spend most of today editing several other chapters.
I’ve also gone back and removed epigram from the existing chapter posts, as it appears to be conflicting with my SEO software. The chapters are supposed to have summaries that show up on search engines, but the epigram, which is posted with the “excerpt” function on the blog theme, apparently overrides it. That’s fine, as I was getting tired of seeing it at the top of every chapter anyway.
And speaking of SEO, I’m think of throwing in keywords on posts. I don’t know if that works like it used to now that search engines have more sophisticated algorithms, but it’s worth a shot.

I just finished a series, and I seem to be getting over my flu bug, or whatever I had. I’m taking screenshots now and should have a new review up tomorrow.
I was going to spend the day on a new essay, but I want to finish the draft of chapter 16 of Jake and the Dynamo to keep my healthy ten-chapter buffer, and I need to finish editing and fact-checking an essay I’ll be submitting to another venue.
And I’ve come down with a flu or something.
Anyway, chapter 6 of Jake and the Dynamo will go up tonight as usual.

The premise of Jake and the Dynamo came to me in a dream.
I think I had been watching Shugo Chara!, the anime based on Peach-Pit’s classic magical girl manga, before I went to bed, so that was probably the impetus, but I had a dream about a high-schooler who got sent back to fifth grade because of an error on his transcript. There, a little girl picked on him, and he couldn’t do anything about it because she was just a kid.
When I woke up, I thought that was a really funny idea, but I couldn’t think of anything to do with it. I mulled it over for a few days and finally said, “Well, what if she’s a magical girl?”
Pretty Dynamo, complete with name, look, and a basic idea of her powers, popped immediately into my head.
So there you go.

I’m spending the day working on fourteenth chapter of Jake and the Dynamo, which for some reason I decided needed to contain a lot of statistics puns. I don’t know why I did this to myself.
Chapter 3, of course, will post on Monday. Are you ready to see Pretty Dynamo fight Godzilla? I know I am.
Also going to see if I can finish up a Rag & Muffin novella while I’m at it.
